  • 2006: Alan McCrary Johnstone, the last surviving charter member of IPTAY, dies in Orangeburg, South Carolina, age 96. A member of the Class of 1932, he received a degree in electrical engineering, and as a student, helped start the golf team.
  • 2007: Clemson hosts a FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) LEGO League Competition in Littlejohn Coliseum with 50 teams of 9-14 year olds. Free admission to the public. Swim and Dive team versus North Carolina at 11 a.m. Men's track at Blacksburg, Virginia at noon. Men's basketball plays Maryland in College Park, 2 p.m., televised on ESPN-U. The Tigers lose for the first time, 87-92. Men's tennis at the Bahamas Invitational. Women's track at the Kentucky Invitational.
  • 2010: The 19th-ranked Tiger Men's basketball team defeats 13th-ranked North Carolina, 83-64, in Littlejohn Coliseum, in a game nationally televised by ESPN. This is the Tigers' first victory over the Tarheels in an eleven game run. This was the Heels' most lopsided defeat since losing to Maryland by 40 on February 22, 2003, The Tiger sports editor Brandon Boatwright and staff writer Cris Cerven reported on January 15 (The Tiger, "Worth the wait!", Friday 15 January 2010, Volume 104, Number 1, page C-1.)
