The Horseshoe is the a housing area comprised of the High Rises (Manning Hall, Byrnes Hall, and Lever Hall) and the Low Rises (Barnett Hall, Mauldin Hall, and Smith Hall). It gets its name due to the layout of the buildings and the roadway forming the shape of a horseshoe. The entrance to the Horseshoe was changed sometime in the 1980s, with the entrance changing from the current location of Vickery Hall to an entrance off of Cherry Road, directly behind the President's House.

Until the completion of the Greek Quad renovation in 2004, this was the location of all official on-campus sorority housing.
