Elm Street is one of the original residential streets of the old Calhoun community, that generally parallels the right-of-way of the old Southern Railway, now Norfolk Southern freight railroad on its north side. It stretches from just east of Lake Hartwell at Riverpoint Drive, crossing College Avenue at a right angle, to a point inside the railroad curve northeast towards Central, where the road hooks back to the left towards the north for two blocks, to a tee-intersection with Cochran Road.

Calhoun Corners restaurant is located on the northwest corner of Elm Street and Clemson Street, directly across the railroad tracks from the railroad depot.
