Biographical Information

Eddie Smith

Eddie Smith is a graduate of Bob Jones University where he received both Bachelor and Master of Arts degrees in Interpretative Speech. After three years in the banking industry, Eddie returned to academics with a teaching position at Tri-County Technical College in Pendleton, South Carolina. He began teaching at Clemson University in January of 1990. His teaching responsibilities include public speaking and the introductory class for non-majors. He is also the Internship Coordinator responsible for placing and monitoring some 30 students each semester as they gain practical experience around the nation in a variety of jobs. Eddie is also the Director of the newly formed Communication Studies Alumni Association and is chair of the Development Committee. Other responsibilities include the two annual speaking competitions: the Tiger Cup during the Fall semester and the Trustees Medal. Eddie is also student organizations coordinator. Eddie Smith is consistently named by students as one of the best professors on campus. His speech classes are legendary, captivating students' attention and interest.

Eddie is an honorary initiate of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity.
