  • March 1: Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity founded at the University of Virginia. First meeting held in Room 47, West Range, at U.VA. In attendence were Robertson Howard, Julian Edward Wood, James Benjamin Sclater, Jr., Frederick Southgate Taylor, Littleton Waller Tazewell (Bradford), and William Alexander.   • April 10: L. A. Sease born. He will serve as a member of the Board of Trustees, 1900-1907, and as an assistant professor of English at Clemson Agricultural College, September 1908-December 1923.
