Edward "Jiggs" Donahue was Clemson's twelfth head football coach, leading the Tigers for four years, 1917 through 1920. He also coached basketball and baseball for two seasons and track for one season.
A graduate of Washington and Lee in 1916, he was an outstanding athlete there, playing backfield on the football team as well as catcher for the baseball team. After graduation, he served as an assistant coach for the football team and was head coach for the basketball and baseball teams.
