The Unhymnal, the Unofficial Songbook of the Clemson University Bands, contains alternate lyrics for most of the traditional football opponents. Herewith, is the South Carolina Alma Mater and Fightsong, which dates to the now-lost 1974 edition:

(Tunes of "Away in a Manger"/"Step To The Rear" - from the Anthony Roberts composition in the Broadway musical How Now, Dow Jones, 1968)

To Hell with Carolina, Columbia's shame,
Despite their excuses they still lose the game,
They're all sons of bitches, they're bastards 'tis true.
So pluck* Chicken Spurrier, and Darren Horn too!
Will everyone here kindly jump up my rear?
And let a Gamecock lead the way!
Everyone knows they're the worst in the land,
Especially the band, but who gives a damn about them?
After the game, things are always the same,
'Cause the Tigers are out to kill.
The cocks are a joke and you know they will choke
And they'll fumble the victory away (eat shit!)
So will everyone here kindly jump up my rear,
And let a Gamecock lead the way!
Go - Cocks! Up the rear! (the rest of this tirade has to go unprinted...)
