Gateway Village is a new shopping center that is slated to open in the spring of 2013 in an area roughly bounded by Tiger Boulevard, the Old Greenville Highway, and Freedom Drive. As of May 2012, former residential housing on the east side of Freedom Drive is being razed, with environmental remediation of asbestos in several of the ~1950s era structures being undertaken. As the combined parcel is on undulating, largely wooded land, considerable grading will probably be involved.

By June 2012, the row of residences on the upslope adjacent to Freedom Drive had been fully razed with full site preparation underway.

A Publix grocery store will anchor the new development, with retail space and outparcels available. A sign posted on Tiger Boulevard indicates that the project is being undertaken by Red Rock Developments, and Edens, a concern that manages dozens of shopping complexes across the United States.
