Fuji Japanese Restaurant

Fuji Japanese Restaurant was one more of a long series of failed businesses competing in the Clemson market. Originally opened in the former location of El Chollo Mexican Restaurant at 530-1 Old Greenville Highway in the fall of 2010, it downsized and moved to the building previously operated as Miami Subs Pizza & Grill on Tiger Boulevard in the spring of 2011.

Despite billboard advertising on the Old Greenville Highway, it never developed sufficient trade to stay competitive in the local market, and closed by mid-September 2011, the building being posted as For Lease by September 22, although all the interior furnishings and menus were still visible inside the premises. From start to finish, the business operated for just under a year.

As of April 2012, the original location at 530-1 Old Greenville Highway is still available for lease. The Tiger Boulevard location is posted for sale or lease in April 2012.

This business location, seemingly cursed, was originally constructed in the early 1970s as Kentucky Fried Chicken's first Clemson outlet.

A new Asian foodery, Thai Spice Noodles & Rice, plans to open in this location on August 6, 2012.
