- Atlanta & Richmond Air Line Railway continues acquisition of right-of-way for new railroad line through Pickens County, either through donation or purchase. (68 records, Clerk of Court's Office, Pickens Court House, Pickens, South Carolina.)
- Henry Aubrey Strode, graduate of the University of Virginia, purchases property in Amherst county, Virginia, on which he establishes the Kenmore University High School, a prepatory school for the University of Virginia, serving as its principal for the next seventeen years. There he meets and marries Mildred Ellis, a granddaughter of the man from whom he had purchased Kenmore, and they settle into her ancestral home.
